Mythological Drift

Have you ever wondered...what if the Bible changed over time?

Have you ever wondered...

what if the Bible changed over time, like a game of Chinese whispers?

In that game, a message is whispered from one person to the next.

No repetition. No correction.

By the end, it often becomes something completely different.

It's an interesting comparison...but it's not how ancient cultures passed on what mattered most.

In the video No.1 Christianity Expert: The Truth About Christianity! The Case For Jesus (Historian's Proof), Wesley Huff explains this clearly (from around 24:20).

Important teachings were memorised, repeated publicly, and preserved within communities that knew them well.

This was not a chain of private whispers. It was something shared, heard, and safeguarded together.

And the Gospel accounts were written within the lifetime of eyewitnesses who could recognise what was true.

It invites a different perspective.

These accounts were not easily changed...but carefully preserved.

What is Mythological Drift

Mythological drift refers to the gradual changes or distortions in myths, legends, or stories over time as they are passed down through generations. This can occur as people reinterpret or modify the details of the myth to fit new cultural, social, or historical contexts.

"If you play Chinese whispers, there are rules in order to corrupt the message. So you have to whisper, you can only say it once. You have to do it one person to one person" Huff says.
